Classes for Children
Bharatanatyam
Soham Dance Space offers a unique program in bharatanatyam education. It aims to impart a thorough understanding and mastery of bharatanatyam technique and theory, to broaden the context in which this art is studied and practiced, and to provide a creative environment through which students can discover their own personal relationship with dance and life. All classes are taught by Anjal Chande, whose passion for arts education and insight into bharatanatyam make this program an inspiring opportunity to learn, self-develop, and build lasting relationships. This multidimensional scope is what makes Soham Dance Space unlike any other Indian dance school.
Excelling in bharatanatyam involves several years of dedication and intensive training to bring about proficiency in performance and gain general knowledge of all main aspects of this highly complex art. Fundamental stretches, postures, hand gestures, movement sequences, and dance items from the traditional membrane repertoire are all a part of the curriculum, as well as contemporary choreography and innovative applications of the art. The long-term curriculum is further enriched by student recitals, camps, field trips, cultural events, and more.
